Description

You will build, scale, and independently operate a highly available, high-throughput messaging and event platform. The work includes migrating to a real-time, event-driven architecture that enables communication between product control-plane components and supports many product teams publishing and processing millions of events daily.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate highly available distributed message-broker clusters (Apache Kafka, Solace, or NATS) across multiple data centers
• Ensure reliability, performance, and fault tolerance by implementing disaster-recovery and failover strategies and optimizing low-latency deployment configurations
• Automate deployment, scaling, and configuration of messaging clusters
• Create end-to-end dashboards for monitoring, alerting, and logging (cluster state, throughput, latency)
• Define best practices for application developers and build a self-service platform to let internal teams configure integrations independently

Requirements

• Experience operating large distributed systems in production (preferably SRE or Platform Engineering)
• Deep hands-on administrative experience with enterprise brokers such as Apache Kafka or Solace
• Experience managing Kubernetes infrastructure using the operator pattern
• Experience managing virtual machines with Ansible
• Proficient programming in Python, Go, or Bash
• Strong understanding of Linux performance tuning and network protocols such as TCP/IP and DNS
• Ideally deep understanding of event-driven architecture patterns and event-streaming concepts
• English proficiency (ideally also German) for international team collaboration
