Description

Senior Platform Engineer to design and build the API and gateway layer unifying a Data & AI Platform into one secure, coherent, and observable product. You will create Python/FastAPI-based APIs and SDKs, define standards for design/versioning/contract testing, and implement gateway orchestration, routing, authorization (RBAC/ABAC), and identity/token flows. The role also includes multi-cloud integration across Azure and GCP and end-to-end observability with OpenTelemetry and Grafana tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design and build APIs and SDKs using Python/FastAPI on top of distributed platform services

• Define REST/async API design standards, versioning strategies, and contract testing practices

• Develop consistent client libraries for reliable platform access

• Architect and maintain an API gateway to eliminate direct fragmented service access

• Implement orchestration and routing patterns to converge independent services into one product

• Implement RBAC/ABAC least-privilege authorization at the gateway level

• Manage identity and token flows, including managed/workload identity and delegation

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with test-first delivery using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions

• Produce service contracts and documentation for platform adoption

• Integrate services across Azure and GCP using private endpoints for secure communication

• Implement observability using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, and Grafana

• Use metrics, traces, and logs to debug and tune production performance

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in platform or software engineering; expert-level Python proficiency

• Hands-on experience building APIs and SDKs on top of distributed services, including client libraries

• Proficiency in FastAPI, REST/async design, API versioning, and contract testing

• Expertise in designing gateway architectures, including orchestration and consistent routing

• Knowledge of IAM concepts: RBAC/ABAC least-privilege, managed/workload identity, token delegation flows

• Hands-on experience with Azure and GCP, including private endpoints and multi-cloud service-to-service integration

• CI/CD and automation using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions

• Familiarity with observability tools: OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, Grafana

• Ability to translate a fragmented service landscape into one unified product

• English proficiency at B2 or higher
