Description

You will be the technical owner of the organization’s data architecture, defining the target data platform architecture, technical standards, and the technology direction for the Data Team. The work covers architecture design for Snowflake-based data warehousing, data integrations, data flows and pipelines, orchestration, and data sharing layers for analytics and reporting—ensuring consistency, security, data quality, and scalability. You will also make key architectural decisions with business and technical requirements in mind.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve the target data platform architecture, including Snowflake data warehouse, integrations with source systems, data flows, orchestration of processes, and analytics/reporting data access layers

• Analyze the current architecture, identify limitations, and propose optimization, modernization, and further development

• Define the data platform development roadmap and plan architectural changes considering scalability, performance, security, and maintenance costs

• Design data integration architecture with source systems, including API-based solutions and ETL/ELT processes

• Define data modeling standards, warehouse layer organization, data flows, and methods for sharing data with analytics and business teams

• Set technology and developer standards for code quality, SQL optimization, testing, versioning, documentation, and deployments using CI/CD

• Define orchestration and monitoring architecture to ensure reliable, repeatable processing and fast issue identification

• Oversee Data Governance, data quality, security, access management, retention, and data lineage documentation

• Optimize Snowflake platform performance and processing costs through efficient compute resource usage and cost monitoring

• Make, document, and justify key architectural decisions and select technologies and design patterns

• Collaborate with a Senior Data Engineer to plan and deliver architectural solutions and to ensure implementation compliance

• Coordinate with IT, Data, BI, and business stakeholders to align data architecture with organizational needs and strategy

• Support the Data Team’s technical growth by promoting best practices, architectural standards, and effective technological solutions

Requirements

• Experience designing and evolving a data platform architecture or modern data warehouses in cloud environments

• Very good SQL knowledge and practical experience with cloud data warehouses, especially Snowflake or equivalent solutions

• Experience designing complex data flows, source integrations, ETL/ELT processes, and orchestration/monitoring mechanisms

• Very good data modeling skills, including warehouse layer design and scalable, high-performance analytical structures

• Experience defining architectural and development standards, including code quality, testing, documentation, versioning, and CI/CD

• Security-first approach including Data Governance, data quality, access control, and data lineage

• Experience optimizing performance and cloud data processing costs

• Ability to assess existing architecture, identify constraints, and design target solutions for long-term evolution

• Ability to make, document, and justify technology decisions and translate architectural assumptions into technical guidance

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially aligning solutions with a Senior Data Engineer, IT teams, and business stakeholders
