Description

Build and evolve the Android messaging experience that helps millions of listeners connect with friends through music—via chat, friend activity, and profiles. Improve the Android client messaging architecture so conversations stay in sync in near real time under tight battery, network, and performance budgets. Work closely with product managers, designers, insights/data scientists, and trust & safety partners, and potentially lead cross-team projects.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate with Android, iOS, and Backend engineers, designers, data scientists, and product managers to experiment, iterate, and deliver on product objectives.

• Build Android features that help users connect through music in chat, friend activity, and on profiles.

• Evolve messaging architecture for near real-time conversation sync on Android within strict battery, network, and performance budgets.

• Write clear, maintainable code that scales across multiple projects and distributed development teams.

• Contribute to team processes and help improve them as needs change.

• Drive performance improvements, testing, and tooling to improve data and system quality.

Requirements

• 8+ years of Android development experience.

• Agentic-first development experience; prior experience with agentic tools like Claude and Cursor is crucial.

• Deep understanding of modern Android development and best practices.

• Readable, idiomatic, maintainable Kotlin; experience working with established coding guidelines and workflows.

• Deep understanding of Android app architecture, design patterns, and API design.

• Understand mobile-to-backend end-to-end integration and what it takes to keep conversations in sync in near real time within battery, network, and performance budgets.

• Quality-focused; knows what it means to ship high-quality code.

• Experience designing safe experiences with privacy, moderation, and abuse prevention as core inputs.

• Inclusive, collaborative, continuous improvement mindset; team success orientation.
