Quick Facts

Full-time QA Engineer / Software Tester position with flexible work: you can work from the Hannover office most days or work from home, with an in-office presence about once per week for team spirit.

Description

You will develop and take ownership of the test strategy for new features, changes, and regression testing. The role includes deciding what to test and at what depth (manual, exploratory, or automated), analyzing risks in complex software, and planning and coordinating test efforts when needed. You will also extend test automation (e.g., with Cypress) and collaborate closely with developers to bring quality earlier into the development process.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the test strategy for new features, changes, and regression tests
  • Independently decide what, how, and how deeply to test (manual, exploratory, or automated)
  • Analyze risks and dependencies and derive meaningful test scenarios and focus areas
  • For larger test efforts: estimate workload, structure test areas, create test scripts, and involve colleagues when needed
  • Split tests sensibly, support colleagues with domain questions, and consolidate results
  • Document test results, identify gaps in test coverage, and communicate risks transparently
  • Continuously improve test automation and write automated tests (e.g., with Cypress)
  • Determine which tests are suitable for automation and help build a sustainable regression test suite
  • Work closely with developers and the team to integrate quality early in the development lifecycle

Requirements

  • Multi-year hands-on experience in software testing
  • Knowledge of manual and automated testing methods
  • Experience in test automation development; Cypress preferred (comparable frameworks accepted)
  • Ability to ramp up on complex software systems, understand dependencies, and maintain overview across many scenarios
  • Ability to derive required tests and special risk areas from requirements and technical changes
  • Structured, independent working style and willingness to take ownership
  • Ability to plan, structure, document, and evaluate tests
  • Strong communication with developers; can clearly explain testing focus and scope
  • Curiosity about new tools and methods; willingness to actively improve QA processes
  • Fluent German at C1 level (written and spoken)
  • No formal test management or leadership role required; strong testing experience and readiness to take increasing responsibility for quality, test planning, and test coordination

Benefits

  • Short decision paths and room to contribute your own ideas
  • Opportunity to take the next step toward broader technical responsibility
  • Flexible hybrid work model (Hannover office and remote options, with weekly in-office presence when mostly remote)
