Who we are

Allies is building the early tech team for a small product-focused software for interior designers. The product is already live and used by a few hundred designers in real projects.

Co-founded by a former unicorn founder and a team of industry veterans to fill a strong gap in the market. Currently self-funded to give us freedom in execution and stronger control over our vision.

This role is for you if…

You’re drawn to products that are past the idea stage, but far from “done” — the interesting part.

We’re looking for someone who wants to help shape where it goes next, not just implement a roadmap. If you value independence and interesting work over certainty, this is for you. You need to be a quick thinker, comfortable diving deep into every part of the product and ready to work in a very small team.

We don’t lock ourselves into long, rigid roadmaps. Instead, we work in focused iterations and adapt when something needs to change. Technical and product decisions are discussed openly and everyone is expected to contribute to them.

You won’t be handed a backlog of tickets without context - understanding the problem is part of the job.

Your role

You’ll work across the stack and help move the product forward in concrete ways:

• Building and evolving a Next.js (App Router) frontend

• Developing a TypeScript backend (MedusaJS)

• Managing application and network state

• Turning Figma designs into clean, reusable UI components

• Improving performance, reliability, and overall UX

• Helping shape architecture and technical direction over time

• Exploring and implementing AI-powered features where they genuinely add value

This isn’t a fixed stack - it’s what we’re using now, and you’ll help shape what comes next.

Who we’re looking for

• You’ve built and maintained real production web applications

• You’re comfortable working across frontend and backend

• You care about product quality, usability, and long-term maintainability

• You’re up to date with modern tooling and comfortable using AI tools in your own workflow (and curious about adding AI-powered functionality to products)

  
  

You communicate clearly and don’t hide behind tickets or specs — you’re comfortable discussing trade-offs and making decisions with the team

Time & compensation

We want expectations to be clear and practical:

• Budget depends on commitment level, contract type etc

• The role doesn’t have to be full-time
