Systems Administrator (+ on-call 1st line duties)

We’re looking for a Systems Administrator with hands-on, commercial experience in managing production systems. Someone who’s passionate about reliability, automation, and 24/7 operations.This role combines standard Systems Administrator responsibilities with participation in a 1st-line on-call rotation, including night and public-holiday coverage as part of the team’s support schedule. Most of the time, you’ll be working on Systems Administrator responsibilities.


You’ll work with AWS-based and (rarely) on-prem environments, take part in incident handling across support lines, and help maintain highly available systems used by clients worldwide.


Responsibilities:

Systems Administration

  • Managing and maintaining production systems for our clients – primarily in AWS, but also in traditional on-prem environments.

  • Automating daily operations and system administration tasks.

  • Monitoring, analyzing, and improving performance, availability, and scalability.

  • Troubleshooting incidents and problems within support lines, for systems operating 24/7. 

  • Supporting development teams in CI/CD pipelines and secure deployments.

  • Participating in architecture design and building new services from the ground up.

  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation.


1st Line & On-Call Support

  • Processing and handling incoming Service Desk requests from application users across our client-deployed platforms.

  • Reproducing user-reported issues, searching for root causes, and escalating when needed.

  • Cooperating with the 2nd and 3rd line support teams.

  • Monitoring applications and user feedback (e.g., store comments).

  • Participating in shift work and on-call duties, including nights and public holidays.


Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of commercial experience in system administration (Linux or Windows Server, Windows 365).

  • At least 1 year of practical experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MS SQL).

  • Practical experience maintaining high-availability systems running 24/7.

  • Scripting skills (Python or Bash).

  • Comfortable working in English (both written and spoken).

  • Availability to participate in on-call rotations and work during night hours.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.


Nice to have:

  • Hands-on experience with AWS in production environments.

  • Experience in similar support or Service Desk roles.

  • Familiarity with video streaming/distribution workflows (OTT).

  • Knowledge of containerization (especially Kubernetes).

  • Networking and security background.

  • Experience with Atlassian stack (Jira, Confluence).

  • Knowledge of monitoring/observability tools.

  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).

  • Technical degree in computer science or related fields.
