About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our delivery team working with major financial institutions in Sweden and the Nordics. This role offers the opportunity to help design, build, and evolve secure, scalable, and compliant data platforms supporting analytics, reporting, and data-driven decision-making. You will work in highly regulated environments, contributing to long-lived data platforms built on Databricks, Apache Spark, and Microsoft Azure, with a strong focus on data quality, governance, and operational stability.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, build, optimize, and maintain data pipelines using Apache Spark and Databricks
Develop and deploy ETL / ELT workflows using PySpark and Python
Write clean, efficient SQL for complex transformations and analytical use cases
Collaborate closely with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to deliver trusted, well-structured datasets
Apply data modeling best practices for batch and streaming workloads
Leverage Azure services for data storage, orchestration, and compute
Ensure data quality, lineage, security, and compliance in a financial services context
Contribute to solution design and architecture, participate in code reviews, and engage in Agile ceremonies
Requirements:
Strong, hands-on experience with Apache Spark (advanced level)
Solid experience with Databricks, PySpark, Python, and SQL
Practical experience working with Microsoft Azure (data-related services)
Good understanding of data modeling and data warehousing principles
Experience working with financial data or other regulated domains is highly valued
Strong communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Comfortable working in distributed, cross-functional teams
Nice to Have:
Experience with Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, or Azure Synapse
Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, FCA)
Exposure to CI/CD, Git, or workflow/orchestration tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory)
Knowledge of data quality frameworks (e.g., Great Expectations)
