DevOps Engineer

We're seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer with strong Java development skills to join our team. This role bridges backend engineering and cloud operations, requiring someone who can work across modern and legacy technologies while driving automation and reliability in Azure environments.

What You'll Do:

DevOps & Cloud Operations

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines ensuring seamless delivery to Azure

• Automate deployment, monitoring, and scaling across Azure App Services, Azure SQL, Kubernetes, and Docker

• Manage and optimize workloads on Unix/Linux systems

• Develop automation tools and scripts using Python and Shell/Bash

Backend Development

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services using Java

• Work with modern frameworks including Spring Boot and Quarkus

• Support and enhance legacy applications built on Struts, JSP, and JDBC

• Collaborate on Oracle Database development, including schema design, SQL optimization, and PL/SQL programming

Reliability & Performance

• Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis in production and development environments

• Ensure system reliability, performance, and security across all environments

• Proactively identify and resolve issues in complex, distributed systems

Collaboration

• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices

• Share knowledge and mentor team members on DevOps and development standards

What We're Looking For:

Required Skills

• Solid knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker containerisation

• Strong proficiency in Java development

• Experience with modern frameworks (Spring Boot, Quarkus) and legacy technologies (Struts, JSP, JDBC)

• Expertise in Unix/Linux systems and Shell/Bash scripting

• Proficiency in Python for automation

• Hands-on experience with Azure cloud services

• Strong understanding of CI/CD principles and tools

• Experience with Oracle Database, SQL, and PL/SQL

• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills

• Ability to work effectively with both modern and legacy codebases

Nice to Have

• Azure certifications

• Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, ARM templates)

• Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools

• Background in site reliability engineering practices
