Azure Cloud Expert

We are seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Migration Expert to lead the migration of an existing on-premises Java application to Microsoft Azure. This role involves end-to-end planning, execution, optimisation, and support across multiple project phases, including application re-hosting/re-platforming and later-phase Oracle database migration.

Project information:

• Location: Wrocław, Poland

• Work Setup: 100% Remote work

• Rate: 210 PLN/net/h + VAT (B2B contract)

• Language: English (B2+ Required)

• Start date: depending on candidate availability

• Tech Stack/Phase 1: Azure VM, Docker Containers, Nginx, Appgateway, Terraform (everywhere for IaaC), Logs analysis

• Tech Stack/Phase 2: Oracle DB migration

Project scope:

• Migration Strategy & Planning

  • Assess existing on-prem Java application architecture, infrastructure, and integrations.

  • Design scalable, secure Azure-based target architectures (IaaS/PaaS).

  • Define a migration roadmap covering application modernisation and later-phase Oracle DB migration.

• Migration Execution

  • Provision and configure Azure resources: VMs, App Services, AKS, networking, and storage.

  • Rehost and re-platform Java applications; containerise workloads using Docker and AKS.

  • Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and, where applicable, ARM or Bicep templates.

• Integration & Optimization

  • Configure networking components such as VNETs, Subnets, NSGs, Application Gateway, and Load Balancers.

  • Optimise application performance, reliability, and cost on Azure.

  • Integrate with Azure Active Directory and ensure secure access control.

• Automation & CI/CD

  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps (or other tools as needed).

  • Implement monitoring and observability with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and related services.

• Security & Compliance

  • Apply Azure security best practices for data protection and workload hardening.

  • Perform risk assessments and enforce governance policies across the Azure environment.

    
    

Requirements:

• Core Expertise

  • Hands-on experience with Azure services: Virtual Machines, App Services, AKS, Storage Accounts, Networking.

  • Proven experience migrating Java applications to Azure or similar cloud environments.

  • Strong IaC skills using Terraform (required), with exposure to ARM or Bicep.

  • Proficiency with containerization (Docker) and Kubernetes workloads on Azure.

• Additional Skills

  • Scripting abilities in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD (Azure DevOps, Jenkins).

  • Understanding of Oracle database migration strategies.

• Soft Skills

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.

  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.

    
    

Nice to have:

• Experience with Azure Migrate, AppCAT, or similar tools for Java workload assessments

• Exposure to multi-region Azure design and scaling strategies

• Familiarity with additional monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or ELK Stack.
