Scala Software Engineer

Kraków - based opportunity with hybrid work model (2 days/week in the office).

As a Software Engineer, you will be working for our client, a leading global financial institution developing cutting-edge solutions to modernize its trading platforms. You will be contributing to the design and implementation of highly scalable and reliable systems, ensuring smooth operations across multiple teams and markets. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders in an Agile and DevSecOps-oriented environment, where innovation, quality, and efficiency are top priorities. You will be building software that powers critical processes and supports high-performance financial applications.

Your main responsibilities:

• Developing and maintaining software for the OTC platform

• Covering your code with tests on all levels of the delivery pipeline, preferably in TDD

• Taking end-to-end responsibility for your software

• Attending daily Agile routines with the team

• Collaborating with developers from other domains to enhance the platform

• Implementing solutions using Scala, Akka, and ZIO

• Working with SQL databases and integrating with other systems

• Using Git for version control and contributing to CI/CD pipelines

  
  

You're ideal for this role if you have:

• At least 3 years of professional experience in Scala

• At least 5 years of overall experience in IT development

• Experience working with Akka, ZIO, and SQL

• Hands-on experience in a Linux environment

• Solid knowledge of CI/CD practices and tools

• Good English skills for daily communication

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work effectively in an Agile and DevSecOps-oriented environment

• Experience with Git and testing frameworks like ScalaTest

• Ability to collaborate closely with Product Owners and team members

  
  

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Experience with Slick

• Familiarity with Cloud-based platforms

• Knowledge of MongoDB and Kafka

• Exposure to monitoring tools like Grafana or InfluxDB

• Experience with Jira or GitHub for task and version management
