Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in program or project management.
  • 8 years of experience with technical teams managing project management, engineering, and construction of data centers or high-capacity facilities.
  • 8 years of experience with electrical, mechanical, controls, security monitoring, fire safety, networking/fiber, server equipment, systems, and infrastructure.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, Construction Management or related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience in requirements gathering, resource organization, task prioritization, scheduling and achieving objectives within set goals.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and knowledge of standard design and construction practices, fast-track design-build processes, documentation, and contracts.
  • Experience with data center equipment/environments, electrical switchgear, generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, controls, security monitoring systems and fire safety systems, with an understanding of start up/commissioning processes, facility electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of safety management best practices.

As a Program Manager at Google, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish — working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. As a Program Manager, you will leverage experience with data center design, development, construction and commissioning projects. You will provide management of data centers, computer farms, networking, Alternating Current and Direct Current (AC) and (DC) power distribution/conversion, and cooling methods at multiple scales. You will be coordinating the desires and needs of multiple partner teams, while managing changes and maintaining a focus on keeping the project on schedule and budget.

You will be managing technical projects in a rapidly changing industry, to thrive in ambiguity and demonstrated problem-solving leadership with limited oversight. You will conceptualize and describe the delivery of a data center facility from start to commissioning and understand the nuances and risks that you and your team will need to manage.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $174,000-$258,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Manage data center projects from inception through to completion.
  • Support special research and development experiments, renovations, and upgrades of existing facility.
  • Be responsible for gathering internal requirements and delivering solutions that satisfy customer needs.
  • Maintain end-to-end responsibility from construction to deployment.
  • Resolve critical issues within matrix organization while maintaining rigorous adherence to project timelines and costs.
