Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
  • 5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems.
  • Experience in the field of computer science.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with privacy-preserving technologies such as differential privacy, federated learning, or secure multi-party computation.
  • Experience with large-scale data processing systems and SQL-based technologies like Google BigQuery.
  • Experience with data structures, algorithms and software design.
  • Familiarity with machine learning and statistical analysis.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and with cross-functional teams with excellent problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills.

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Ads Data Hub team, you will be instrumental in designing and implementing innovative strategies and algorithms to enhance privacy protections, usability, and functionality. Your work will directly contribute to the evolution of privacy-preserving technologies in the advertising ecosystem. This role offers the unique opportunity to work on areas such as SQL instrumentation and runtime filtering, machine learning, advanced statistical functions, and differential privacy.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies and algorithms for improving privacy protections in Ads Data Hub.
  • Design and build privacy-centric solutions, including differential privacy-based checks for aggregation and data joins with first-party customer data.
  • Conduct thorough analysis and simulations to evaluate the effectiveness of privacy-preserving features.
  • Implement and launch privacy-enhancing features, including differential privacy noise protection, to strike a balance between data security and usability for external advertisers, agencies, and partners.
  • Contribute to the development of differential privacy aggregation algorithms in Google SQL and BigQuery SQL engine.
