Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in software development.
5 years of experience leading ML design and optimizing ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).
Experience with common machine learning techniques and technologies.
Preferred qualifications:
Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field.
5 years of experience with one or more of the following: computer vision, reinforcement learning (e.g., sequential decision making), ML infrastructure or specialization in another ML field.
Experience with image processing and computer vision.
Experience with multiple research publications in top CV/ML conferences (e.g., CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NIPS and ICLR).
Experience in modeling with TensorFlow, JAX, etc.
Experience working in large-sized engineering and cross-functional teams as well as excellent communication skills.

In this role, you will create new structured geospatial data to accelerate map making. You will work with many organizations including Geo’s Basemap, Consumer, Auto and Sustainability teams plus the Cloud and Research product areas to enable Google’s next wave of geospatial-powered applications and help us shape the future of Maps.The Geo team is focused on building the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for our users, through products like Maps, Earth, Street View, Google Maps Platform, and more. Every month, more than a billion people rely on Maps services to explore the world and navigate their daily lives.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
Design and build end-to-end solutions for automating map data creation using state-of-the-art ML technology.
Engage with users and client teams across Geo and Google to understand current and future needs of geospatial data.
Collaborate with Google Research and other teams to integrate state-of-the-art ML and AI solutions into Geo products.
Uphold a high standard for engineering excellence through good practices in code health, maintainability and testability.
Keep up with industry trends, serve as a technical lead, establish technical roadmaps and guide team members.
