Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Experience with C++.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience with embedded systems.
  • Understanding of wireless communications technologies, like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), cellular networks.

Help the Android Context Hub team drive the next evolution in low-power ambient computing by enabling deep integration with specialized hardware to predict and understand user needs without the need for explicit interaction.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,000-$244,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Contribute to and/or lead the design, development, testing, debugging, and optimization of C++ and Java components in the Android and Context Hub frameworks.
  • Work with pre-release Android devices and development boards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure the success of Context Hub features and functionality.
  • Ensure code is covered by unit, integration, power, and qualification tests to ensure Context Hub implementations across 1P and 3P devices are high-quality.
