Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
  • 2 years of experience with software development and coding or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
  • Experience with Distributed Systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: High-Performance Scalable Backends, Large-Scale Data Processing, Large-Scale Distributed Systems, Large-Scale Systems, System Design.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Distributed Computing, Distributed Data Analytics, Distributed Processing.
  • Experience with messaging systems (Apache Kafka, Cloud Computing Platform SQS/SNS/Kinesis/Event Hubs, RabbitMQ).
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Apache Hadoop/Spark (open source data analytics tools), Cloud Computing Platforms, Big Data Technologies (Apache Spark, Apache Druid, Apache Hive, Apache Flink, Presto).
  • Experience with C++.

The Cloud Pub/Sub team is focused on integrating the product more deeply into Google Cloud Platform and the Data Analytics/BigQuery platform (sometimes called BigQuery Quantum). This is on top of improvements to Cloud Pub/Sub to make it more scalable, available, and efficient.

Given that our product spans both core infrastructure and an external customer-facing product, we provide opportunities and value impact of many different types of distributed systems programming at vast scale with high availability requirements. We provide customer empathy by understanding and satisfying internal+external customer needs. We troubleshoot and meet with internal+external customers to help them improve their experience with our products.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
