Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
  • Experience in the following: Back-end, Distributed Systems, Infrastructure Systems, Client-Server Model.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • Experience in the following: large scale distributed systems, Cloud development (Cloud Computing Platform, GCP etc.), networking and managed service concepts (especially availability, connectivity, replication, workflows), client and server side development.
  • Experience partnering closely with multiple engineering teams to achieve business goals and a proven track record of delivering successfully within dynamic timelines.
  • Experience working with SRE and carrying a pager and supporting production environment.
  • Familiarity with Google infrastructure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Networking, Borg, Spanner, OnePlatform, Tenant Manager, GCE etc.
  • Familiarity with Go, Java, or Python.

The Connectivity team’s mission is to provide a reliable, secure, seamless, scalable, and flexible way for customers to connect to Cloud SQL instances from clients anywhere (e.g., hosted in GCP, multi-cloud, on-prem, Borg/Prod). The team comprises of these areas: Networking Core, Integrations with other GCP Services (e.g., BigQuery, Looker, Cloud Run, GKE, Firebase), Tenancy Unit Adoption, Gen AI App Ecosystem integrations (e.g., Langchain), Client SDK, and End-to-end Connectivity.Google Cloud accelerates every organization’s ability to digitally transform its business and industry. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Help modernize our offering while driving reliability and supportability improvements in an incremental fashion and improve customer experience.
  • Deliver on integrating with other Google technologies spanning networking and availability (e.g., Private Service Connectivity, One Network, Tenant Manager, Zero Down Time).
  • Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, and Product Managers across various teams in Cloud SQL, in Google Compute Engine (GCE), in Cloud Networking, and Google at large to ensure alignment on plans and execution.
  • Develop Connector as Cloud SQL Client Software Development Kit (SDK) to provide most secure and reliable way for customers to connect Cloud SQL instances from everywhere.
  • Work with customer engineers and on premium customer cases while collaborating alongside Cloud SQL Team Leads to fix underlying issues that cause customer operational disruptions.
