Overview

Are you passionate about solving complex business challenges through data and analytics? The Health and Life Sciences Chief Operating Office (HLS COO) is seeking a skilled and driven Business Analyst to support strategic initiatives through scalable analytics solutions and actionable insights. This role is central to enabling data-driven decision-making across Microsoft’s Health and Life Sciences (HLS) domain, with a strong emphasis on clinical applications.

You’ll work cross-functionally to translate business needs into technical requirements, build intuitive dashboards, and embed AI capabilities into our analytics ecosystem—all while ensuring alignment with Microsoft’s operating model, data governance standards, and compliance frameworks.

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field OR equivalent experience.
  • Worked with AI enabled products

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics).
  • 3+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analysis, or financial/business analytics.
  • Proficiency in Power BI, Excel, Power Query, and Power Apps.
  • Experience with statistical analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, R) and multivariate modeling.
  • Ability to write and optimize SQL queries for large datasets.
  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to translate ambiguous business questions into testable hypotheses and actionable insights.
  • Basic project management skills, including milestone tracking, risk identification, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and their application in business analytics.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft platforms such as Azure, Dynamics, and Fabric.
  • Experience working within data governance frameworks, including metadata management, data stewardship, and compliance with internal and external regulations.
  • Familiarity with Healthcare
  • Demonstrated ability to embody Microsoft’s culture and values.

 

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $68,300 - $137,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $93,200 - $151,200 per year.

Responsibilities

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with stakeholders to understand business objectives and translate them into technical and analytical requirements.
  • Design, build, and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI and other Microsoft analytics tools.
  • Contribute to the development of AI-driven insights, including predictive modeling and propensity analysis.
  • Investigate and deploy new AI methods, tools, and agents to accelerate the time to deliver outcomes.
  • Support the development of reusable data pipelines and analytics assets for cross-team consumption.
  • Conduct gap analyses to identify opportunities for automation, efficiency, and process improvement.
  • Document and optimize business processes, workflows, and data flows to support scalable analytics
  • Collaborate with data engineers, product managers, and AI specialists to deliver end-to-end analytics solutions.
  • Ensure data quality, governance, security, and compliance with Microsoft’s data handling standards.
  • Drive analytics initiatives within the HLS domain, with a strong emphasis on clinical applications.
