Halo Studios is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Integration and Tools to help define and build the tools, pipelines, and automation systems that will power the future of Halo games in Unreal Engine 5. You will work closely with development teams to design and implement solutions that address content creation bottlenecks. Collaborating across disciplines, you will leverage telemetry to ensure our systems perform reliably at scale, investigate complex Unreal Engine challenges, and support the integration of major engine releases into Halo. Your technical expertise and mentorship will strengthen the team’s ability to solve technical challenges, enhance the developer experience, and deliver the next generation of Halo products.

Qualifications

Required qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience. 
  • 2+ years direct experience with Unreal Engine, with a deep understanding of developer and content workflows. 
  • 1+ year experience with game console development. 

 

Other Requirements:  

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements is required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: 
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. 

 

Preferred qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated experience applying agile methodologies and continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD) practices on shipped AAA game titles or large-scale software projects. 
  • Proven ability to perform root cause analysis on critical technical issues, with examples of how you identified, addressed, and resolved at least two major incidents in prior roles. 
  • Track record of communicating complex engineering concepts and creating technical documentation. 
  • Experience successfully delivering results in fast-paced, rapidly changing environments. 

 

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain Halo Studios' use of Unreal Engine 5, including integrations, data validation, and testing. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and partner studios to deliver engineering solutions that align with project goals and timelines and identify areas of shared interest and investment.  
  • Support technical excellence by contributing to engineering decisions and best practices that enable a globally distributed development team. 
  • Contribute to engineering systems and culture centered around continuous feature delivery, demonstrating progress in building and quickly addressing customer needs.  
  • Collaborate across disciplines to identify current tooling needs and contribute to discussions about long-term tooling investments. 
  • Mentor junior engineers by sharing technical expertise and supporting their development. 
  • Identify and address gaps in test automation coverage, debug crash dumps to improve editor and engine stability, and optimize code and content build systems. 
  • Create and automate workflows to enhance efficiency and reliability across the development pipeline.
