Software Engineering Manager, Internal Identity Authentication

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience with software development in Java or C++.
• 3 years of experience building software for data privacy or security (e.g., identity and access management).
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
• 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  
• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.

With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

As the manager of the internal identity team, your team is responsible for a high queries per second (qps) internal Identity platform with Small String Optimization (SSO) and multi-factor credential enrollment are key foundational capabilities. The authentication, authorization and credential life-cycle supports humans and non-humans alike. You will lead innovation through your team and support cross-functional and cross organizational partnerships to evolve the platform roadmap, build new authentication capabilities, scaling existing systems, and set the example for the industry of an enterprise identity authentication platform at the scale of Alphabet.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
