  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Linux development, Android Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) development, device driver development, or camera system development.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to work both separately and collaboratively.
  • Passion for developing and delivering quality software solutions.

We are seeking experienced Android engineers to join our team and contribute to our video capture pipeline. This role involves close collaboration with User Experience (UX), Product Manager (PM), and partner teams to develop and deliver innovative video features, ensuring an exceptional user experience.

The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Own the development of new, user-facing video features, guiding them from initial concept to a polished, final product through close collaboration with User Experience (UX), Product Management, and partner teams.
  • Lead the architecture and evolution of our core video capture pipeline, creating an extensible foundation that accelerates the development of new features.
  • Design and build the essential infrastructure that enables other teams to seamlessly debug, iterate, and launch their own video features on our platform.
  • Contribute to our video pipeline to optimize performance, focusing on minimizing latency, reducing power consumption, and conserving memory to ensure an exceptional user experience.
  • Contribute to a culture of engineering excellence by actively maintaining and improving our codebase, ensuring it remains efficient and agile for the entire team.
