About the job

As Director, you will lead the development of the lower-half software for our GPU Platforms portfolio. You will provide global leadership to our software teams in the US and Taiwan, guiding the design, planning, and development of essential lower-level systems software. This includes delivering GPU products through GCP in bare metal and virtualized SKUs and to internal first-party customers, with a focus on optimizing time-to-market and quality. You will take full responsibility for the execution of lower-half software for the GPU products portfolio. This encompasses the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), software quality, technical debt management, and supporting effective deployment and health stabilization for system availability and reliability within our data centers.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $294,000-$414,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Work closely with third-party GPU vendors and joint-design manufacturers (JDMs) to continuously refine our engineering engagement model with the aim of streamlining Google's engineering efforts for integration, system qualification, and manufacturing of GPU systems for data center deployment, driving innovative approaches to influence vendor internal development processes.
  • Develop an expert-level understanding of the GPU Platforms portfolio and roadmap. Leverage this to drive iteration of the GPU Platforms Software organization structure and development methodology, contributing to the establishment and maintenance of a global engineering organization that allows Google to deliver an ever-expanding portfolio with sub-linear scaling.
  • Collaborate with the industry to drive the GPU ecosystem toward the development and adoption of open standards, interfaces, and specifications, with the key objective of minimizing Google's effort for the integration of off-the-shelf systems into our data centers.
