Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in working with datasets and SQL/NoSQL, such as building and orchestrating data pipelines and applying machine learning.
  • 8 years of experience in full stack development across backends such as Java, Python, or C++ codebases, and front-end including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience managing client-facing projects to completion (troubleshooting clients issues, working with cross-functional teams, and customers).
  • 2 years of experience in a people management, or a supervisory/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in a leadership role for engineering teams.
  • Experience with cloud technologies such as architecting, developing, or maintaining cloud solutions in virtualized environments or cloud data engineering.
  • Experience building and operating web-based customer tools and reports.
  • Ability to lead a team in designing and implementing good user experiences.
  • Ability to navigate organizational issues to drive delivery of cross-functional projects.
  • Ability to balance advocating for the customer and the needs of the organization.

The gTech Users and Products (gUP) Search Real World Journeys (RWJ) team supports strategic verticals for Search in the travel, food, activities, and finance spaces focused on pre-sales, onboarding, reactive/proactive support, tooling and dashboards, and consultative services.

In this role, you will lead a team of engineers in the Technical Solutions job family to build and support internal and external facing tools and dashboards. You will also interact with cross-functional stakeholders globally across multiple functional areas in Google. You will prioritize feature requests and work with the team to develop and launch solutions working closely with legal and compliance teams.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $177,000-$263,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of individuals, set and communicate individual and team priorities that support organizational goals. Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development, and provide feedback and coaching. 
  • Oversee data pipeline and full-stack development for web-based tools and reports for internal and external partners. Drive engineering and operational best practices, and oversee maintenance and operations activities, including offshore development and operations teams. Incorporate relevant AI/LLM technologies into tooling features and also team workflow.
  • Recognize the nuances of travel and travel-adjacent industries and develop subject matter expertise. Work closely with some of Google's largest partners, understand their challenges and provide solutions to achieve their business goals.
  • Manage a wide range of cross-functional stakeholders. Solicit stakeholder input, and evolve the team strategy and roadmap to meet anticipated future needs.
