Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience working in a enterprise hardware systems design technical environment, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience with enterprise class hardware systems design.
  • Experience in solving system issues, technical innovation and drive technical roadmap.
  • Experience with data center engineering, server, storage and networking products.
  • Experience with FPGA/CPLD Design and interface with other disciplines, including software, signal integrity, thermal and mechanical.
  • Ability to collect and organize details to reproduce results and explain what happened.

Our Platforms Infrastructure Engineering team designs and builds the hardware and software technologies that power all of Google's services. Our computational challenges are complex and unique, enabled by custom hardware designed and made in-house. Our Mechanical Product Design Engineering Team members work cross-functionally to design, build, and deploy the latest technology to support the needs of compute, storage, networking, and machine learning hardware.

As a hardware engineer in the board and system design team, you will work on hardware systems projects to craft solutions for current and future data center deployments.You will work with product teams to ensure that customer goals are met with your systems, ASIC/FPGA, Software, and Verification teams to ensure proper verification of features in your systems, Manufacturing teams to ensure that your designs are manufacturable and ready for volume production, Field teams to support systems that are deployed in the data center.
The ML, Systems, & Cloud AI (MSCA) organization at Google designs, implements, and manages the hardware, software, machine learning, and systems infrastructure for all Google services (Search, YouTube, etc.) and Google Cloud. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $126,000-$181,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead the hardware design on a system or sub-system of a data center hardware product.
  • Bring up systems and execute engineering validation in the lab.
  • Gather requirements, define high level architecture, execute hardware design and product validation.
  • Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, product, and deployment teams to productize designs and field support.
  • Drive product from concept to production.
