We are looking for a Software Engineer II- Backend. You will be collaborating with a team of amazing engineers and other teams across Microsoft to deliver large scale distributed architecture and features to meet OneDrive and SharePoint's service needs. You will be tasked with improving database and system performance and efficiencies, along with ensuring zero customer impact throughout the change management cycle. You will deliver systems to meet our business continuity planning goals, provide telemetry for optimizing the service and drive down our response time for detecting and resolving service issues.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience collaborating with peers and partner teams to meet joint engineering goals.
  • Experience coding, debugging, algorithm design, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with cloud-scale services and server/service management features.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience with building cloud-scale infrastructure components.
  • Experience related to cloud scale distributed design and patterns.
  • Familiarity with secure software design concepts.
  • Experience delivering projects that include multiple components. 
  • Ability to work across and partner with multiple engineering teams to achieve business goals.  

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
