We are seeking a Software Engineer to join the Excel Core team—an opportunity to influence and impact hundreds of millions of daily users across nearly every country in the world, all while working within a vibrant and collaborative engineering team.

  • AI-Powered Intelligence in the Grid: Enhance the customer workflow with Contextual Suggestions powered by Copilot to provide inline interactivity where it matters most.

  • Cloud-Scale Architecture: Re-architect the service-backed infrastructure that powers collaboration, Copilot, the services, cloud, and optimized file storage and handling.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python. 

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent skills in designing and debugging complex services.
  • Good understanding of all aspects of the software development process.
  • Demonstrated experience in shipping high-quality products or services.
  • Be an effective communicator with the ability to collaborate with multiple teams.
  • Have a passion for customers, product quality and test engineering.
Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Work with other experienced Software Engineers, Product Managers, Designers and cross-functional teams to deliver high quality solutions across platforms (Win32, Web, Mac and Mobile) that ship to hundreds of millions of customers around the world.
  • Design and develop large components with quality, performance, simplicity, durability, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Contribute efforts to collect, classify, and analyze data to be used for decision-making.
  • Work across organizations and directly with partners both in Office and across Microsoft including other engineers and product leaders.
