Staff Software Engineer, Google Cloud Storage, Anywhere Cache

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 8 years of experience in software development, programming in C++ or Java.
• 5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure and distributed systems.
• 5 years of experience in cloud computing environments, and with architecting and implementing cloud infrastructure for applications and products.
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  
• Experience in developing cloud-based storage systems.
  
• Experience in caching technologies, data locality optimization in distributed environments.
• Experience tuning performance and scale in large-scale distributed systems.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of highly scalable, low-latency, and consistent distributed caching systems.
  
• Provide technical direction, conduct design and code reviews, and mentor engineers.
  
• Optimize system performance to maximize customer throughput and minimize infrastructure costs.
  
• Establish and maintain service level objectives, manage on-call responsibilities, and drive best practices for stability and reliability.
  
• Work closely with Product Management and partner GCS/Cloud teams to align roadmaps and integrate caching solutions.
