Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience with software development in C++ or Java.
3 years of experience designing, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
Experience with data analytics metadata systems (e.g., HMS, cloud computing platform Glue, Iceberg Rest Catalog) or data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Trino, Flink, Beam).

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
Experience with data lakes, particularly using Apache Iceberg.
Experience in Apache or other similar open-source projects such as Iceberg, Delta, Hudi, Spark, Presto, Flink etc.
Experience with Cloud Networking.

You'll be instrumental in shaping the architecture and future of BigQuery's metadata management capabilities. This particular position is focused around improving Federation support for BigLake.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,000-$244,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

Write and test product or system development code.
Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and its impact.
