  • Experience in clean energy policy, electric utility regulation, rate design and integrated resource planning.
  • Experience winning outcomes in energy regulatory and legislative arenas, especially within stakeholder coalitions at the state-level.
  • Ability to creatively solve multi-stakeholder issues.
  • Ability to grow in ambiguous and uncertain environments.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills with executive presence.

As Google's products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future -- everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you combine your deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Google's infrastructure growth. You'll work with specific project teams on negotiating deals, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting deal recommendations to our Tech leadership. Your successful negotiations have the potential to save Google millions of dollars in operating costs and impact every part of the business.

As a Strategic Negotiator, Energy Regulatory and Policy, you will lead energy regulatory initiatives in the U.S. Central region to secure cost-effective, reliable power for Google's dates centers and advance the company's carbon-free energy goals. You will drive strategy, lead projects and advocate for Google's interests with regulators and stakeholders.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $144,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Exhibit working knowledge of key stakeholders, issues, and market trends within the US-Central region, including the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) and the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO).
  • Apply creative problem-solving to ambiguous, multi-stakeholder issues, demonstrate executive presence and relationship-building skills and communicate effectively while managing projects with precision.
  • Achieve desired outcomes in regulatory and legislative arenas, including through stakeholder coalitions.
  • Develop clean energy policies and regulations, particularly concerning electric utilities, rate design and analysis.
