Senior Manager, Application Engineering

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 years of experience working with Java programming.
• 10 years of experience in third-party systems integration.
• 10 years of experience in leading architecture for enterprise systems and applications.
• 8 years of experience managing engineers.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree in Computer Science, or related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA, including financial planning and analysis tools like Anaplan, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), or SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC).
• Experience in Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) or a related finance engineering discipline.

About the job

You lead all aspects of web development, requirements gathering, software development, testing, documentation, training, implementation, ongoing support, and maintenance for both in-house and customer-facing web applications. You will work closely with a cross-functional team of Googlers using UI and functional specs/prototypes as input. You are empowered to act like an owner, take action and innovate to meet user and customer needs.

In this role, as an Application Engineering Manager on the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Engineering team in Sunnyvale, involves addressing internal process bottlenecks. The team identifies time-consuming procedures and creates reliable solutions. You will translate user needs into technical specifications, design and develop systems, and work with Google executives to ensure implementation. The goal is to help Googlers work efficiently by improving processes and leveraging our internal tools.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $227,000-$320,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

• Lead a team of individuals, set and communicate team priorities that support organizational goals. Set clear expectations with individuals based on their level and role and aligned to the organization's goals and meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development, and provide feedback and coaching.
• Write modular and well-structured codes, and develop overall systems design, research, and evaluate vendor supplied applications, and develop recommendations on those applications.
• Conduct and oversee testing of application modules to ensure application meets specifications and collaborate with analysts and business process owners within one or more teams to help translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Manage an engineering team focused on implementing software products and designing and building internal applications that support financial planning and analysis business processes.
