The Worldwide Sustainability (WWS) organization leverages Amazon's size, scale, and inventive culture to build a more resilient and sustainable company. WWS manages our social and environmental impacts globally, driving solutions that enable our customers, businesses, and the world to become more sustainable.
We are seeking an experienced science leader to drive foundational innovations in sustainability measurement and planning across Amazon's global operations. This role will tackle complex sustainability challenges across all industrial sectors and geographic regions where Amazon operates, building science-driven capabilities for confident decision-making and investments in sustainability initiatives.
You will lead a multidisciplinary team of scientists, economists, engineers, and scholars to deliver transformative solutions across multiple environmental impact areas, including carbon, water, waste, biodiversity, and circularity. Your mission centers on building robust measurement systems that accurately capture our current environmental footprints and track progress through actionable metrics, while developing planning capabilities to project future trajectories, quantify initiative impacts, and align goals with the latest environmental science standards.
This role is uniquely positioned at the cutting edge of sustainability science, where your leadership will guide teams in leveraging diverse analytical approaches including AI and machine learning, systems simulation, optimization, and life cycle assessment (LCA) to create cost-effective solutions across Amazon's operations. You will own company-wide sustainability science review mechanisms, ensuring methodological rigor while pioneering generative AI applications that transform how we validate data, align methodologies, and generate insights at scale.
Success in this role requires building strong relationships across diverse stakeholder groups, translating complex concepts between sustainability domain experts and business leaders across the organization.
You will collaborate closely with engineering teams, program teams, and business units to transform emerging scientific standards into practical, scalable solutions, coordinating project planning and resource allocation across multiple teams and initiatives. Your leadership will be instrumental in developing methodologies and models that help Amazon achieve its sustainability goals.
