Technical Program Manager II, Safety Compliance, Platforms and Devices

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 2 years of experience in program management.
  
• Experience in hardware safety certifications (e.g., IEC 62368-1, IEEE 1725, UL 1642, UL 2054).
• Experience with consumer electronics (e.g., laptops, phones, tablets, etc.).

Preferred qualifications:

• 2 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
• Experience with product safety analysis, investigation, and product recall.
• Experience with international certification schemes for information technology equipment (e.g., CE marking, CB scheme, GS, RCM, BIS, PSE, BSMI).
• Experience working within safety test lab quality management systems, in compliance with ISO 17025.
• Ability to perform safety testing.

The Devices and Services Product Area (DSPA) Safety Certification team is part of the DSPA Hardware Compliance team, in Product Integrity Engineering. The team supports all hardware products across Devices and Platforms, ensuring that they meet safety standards. The team engages with program teams early in the development process to identify potential risks and guide the design to compliance, seeing it through to the end of development.

As the Safety Compliance Technical Program Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that Google Consumer Hardware products meet all applicable hardware safety standards requirements, follow industry best practices, and are ready to succeed in the market. You will work with Product Counsels, Product Design Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Manufacturing Partners, Supply Chain and Operations to ensure Google Consumer Hardware products are in full compliance. In addition to supporting product development, you will also be able to help shape Google's best practices and processes certifying new products.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $132,000-$189,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to understand or identify defined work problems and program goals, obtain prioritized deliverables, and discuss program impact.
  
• Prioritize program goals, understand and translate other stakeholders’ needs into program goals and prioritized deliverables with minimal assistance, and contribute to decisions on prioritizing goals and deliverables.
  
• Define the scope of projects and develop, execute, or manage project plans for supported programs.
• Review key metrics pertaining to a program, monitor potential metric deviations, and define corrective actions for critical deviations.
  
• Identify, communicate, and collaborate with stakeholders within one or more teams to drive impact and work toward mutual goals.
