Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
  • 3 years of experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed storage systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Experience in building reliable, scalable, and operationally excellent products.
  • Ability to optimize system performance in a distributed storage environment by identifying bottlenecks, tuning critical paths, and improving resource allocation and utilization for both internal and external clients.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineers to shape the future of Google's durable storage, guiding the goal, strategy, and goals for your group.
  • Mentor and coach team members, including technical leads, to develop their skills and careers.
  • Drive software engineering projects from initial concept to delivery, making architectural and operational decisions to meet customer requirements and business objectives.
  • Collaborate with teams across Google to enable the next level of scale and capabilities for storage while maintaining and improving system reliability.
  • Uphold and improve engineering excellence by leading technical designs and best practices for both internal storage needs and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) goals.
