Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in product management or related technical role.
  • 2 years of experience in Machine Learning.
  • Experience with data analytics, reporting, scripting and experience using SQL or similar technologies.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in a technology or business related field.
  • 5 years of experience working cross-functionally with Engineering, Data Science, UX/UI, Sales, Finance, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience in Engineering or Data Science.
  • Experience in machine learning systems, Large Language Models (LLMs) or foundation models.
  • Ability to work with ML advancements and deliver solutions.

In this role, you will support the future of content discovery for billions of users on YouTube recommendations, lead the evolution of the core machine learning models, particularly by adapting Gemini as a foundation model for YouTube Recommendations. Additionally, as the owner for Watch Next, you will drive improvements in personalization, finding ways to improve the quality of recommendations for one of the most used surfaces at YouTube. A critical aspect of the work will also be to define and enhance the AI chip strategy, enabling the necessary efficiency for continuous training and serving of these advanced models. This role promises impact on YouTube's engagement and business growth by delivering content.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate Gemini as a foundational model for recommendations adapting it to understand the "language of YouTube" via video watch histories. Guide the models strategy for enhanced recommendation quality.
  • Own the Watch Next surface, improving its performance for various user segments and session types, and driving the complete experience.
  • Develop YouTube's AI Chip strategy for recommendation models, focusing on resource allocation, driving cost improvements, and helping influence the TPU strategy for next generation chips.
  • Advance agentic development within recommendations, fostering new ways to utilize agents to improve velocity in driving forward improvements to the recommendation system.
