As a Senior Risk Manager for Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) at Amazon, you will play a crucial role in our commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable business practices. You'll lead efforts to ensure Amazon's compliance with EPR regulations across multiple jurisdictions, focusing on waste streams such as packaging, electronics, and batteries, amongst others. In this position, you'll leverage your strategic thinking, analytical skills, and stakeholder management abilities to develop innovative solutions, optimize compliance processes, and support Amazon's goals while navigating complex regulatory landscapes.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of global cost optimization strategies for EPR recycling fees, identifying and implementing innovative approaches to reduce overall financial impact
- Conduct comprehensive data analysis to uncover cost-saving opportunities within EPR fee structures, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements while maximizing efficiency
- Spearhead smart eco-modulation initiatives, utilizing automated systems and AI tools to optimize packaging designs and material choices, while developing real-time tracking of fee implications across product categories
- Optimize operational costs associated with take-back services, including reverse logistics and recycling processes, through process improvements and strategic partnerships
- Drive the integration of EPR costs into upstream business decisions through development of automated decision-support tools and AI-powered recommendation engines, enabling real-time cost impact analysis for retail teams during product selection, design and pricing decisions
- 6+ years of compliance, audit or risk management experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification
- Experience leveraging technology and implementing lean principles / Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements or equivalent
- Master's degree or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $109,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
