DESCRIPTION

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a highly motivated Solutions Architect to help accelerate our growing U.S. Federal Civilian Government business supporting Scientific Agencies.

This position will be based out of Arlington, VA, but other areas such as San Francisco, Austin, Denver, or Raleigh may be considered.

As a Solutions Architect within AWS, you will have the opportunity to help shape and deliver on a strategy to advance our customer’s mission through the use of AWS services (e.g. Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, Amazon RDS, HPC, etc.) You will accomplish this as part of a cross-functional team working together in support of the FedCiv mission.

Your broad responsibilities will include:
- Owning the technical engagement and technical strategy with our customers.
- Defining implementation architectures, responding to RFPs, developing a deep expertise both in AWS technologies, as well as the customer mission space.
- Being a subject matter expert on security as it relates to customer applications and services.

The Solutions Architects on our team provide exceptional technical design and thought leadership to the Federal Civilian Government markets while working with a sales and business development team. They lead efforts to capture and share best-practice knowledge among the AWS solution architect community. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree, or CND (Certified Network Defender) or GSEC (GIAC Security Essentials)
- Experience with one of the following programming languages: Python, Ruby, Node.js, C#, or C++
- Experience with two or more of the following: networking fundamentals, security, storage or databases (relational or NoSQL), operating systems (Unix, Linux, or Windows)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience implementing a cloud-based technology solution
- Experience in any of the following: Cloud Architecture, Systems Design, Software Development, Infrastructure Architecture, Data Engineering or DevOps
- Degrees in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Genetics, or Geospatial Sciences, or experience in Pharmaceuticals, Aerospace, Life Sciences, National Laboratories, or Health Research Institutions.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $88,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $192,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
