We are seeking a Data Scientist (DS) to join the Alexa Daily Essentials (ADE) Analytics and Data Science team, working on Alexa+, our next-generation AI-powered assistant. In this role, you will lead large-scale projects that leverage advanced data science techniques to solve complex business problems and drive innovation across multiple teams.
As a Data Scientist, you will partner with product management and technical leadership to identify opportunities for innovation in customer experiences. You will design and implement sophisticated data science solutions, including machine learning models and AI-driven systems, to optimize customer outreach, analyze behavioral patterns, and improve decision-making processes.
Your expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, and data analysis will be crucial in shaping product strategies and delivering significant business impact. You will be expected to work autonomously, mentor junior team members/other Data Scientists, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners to translate complex business challenges into actionable insights and scalable solutions.
Key job responsibilities
Specific Responsibilities Include:
• Lead and execute large-scale data science projects from conception to deployment, addressing complex business problems with minimal guidance
• Design and implement advanced machine learning and AI models, including Generative AI applications, to optimize customer experiences and business processes
• Conduct in-depth data analysis and feature engineering to build robust, scalable ML models
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to identify opportunities and align data science initiatives with organizational goals
• Develop and implement methodologies for measuring incremental value, predicting growth, and optimizing customer engagement
• Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the team's technical strategy and best practices
• Communicate complex analytical findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive stakeholders
• Stay current with the latest advancements in data science and AI, recommending and implementing new techniques as appropriate
- Master's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, data science, business analytics, economics, finance, engineering, or computer science
- 4+ years of data scientist experience
- Experience with data scripting languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R, or equivalent) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g., R, SAS, Matlab, or equivalent)
- Experience with statistical models e.g. multinomial logistic regression
- Proven expertise in applying advanced statistical methods and machine learning techniques to solve business problems
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Experience as a leader and mentor on a data science team
- PhD in a relevant quantitative field or equivalent industry experience
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop)
- Experience in leading cross-functional teams and mentoring junior data scientists

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $143,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
