Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • Computer Science fundamentals
  • Software development experience in programming language Go
  • 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
  • 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • Solid understanding of networking, network performance, and network configuration.
  • Knowledge of Unix file-system fundamentals (high throughput reads and writes; compression; encryption).
  • Basic understanding and familiarity with Linux Kernel level software/modules.
  • Basic understanding of low-level storage (raid-arrays, HDDs).

The transfer appliance infrastructure team builds a storage system for transferring data from and to a customer from GCS. We select a suitable hardware platform, maintain our own OS build, work on the storage and networking performance. We also solve customer usability and security problems, work with operations to make sure our logistics and maintenance are working smoothly.


The engineering work on this team will expose you to the system wide set of challenges, from hardware to application level. You will be working with data center operations across the globe, and will have a chance to help our customers with their unique use cases.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Address current transfer appliance reliability, performance and security challenges.
  • Work with external suppliers to specify, test and profile the next generation of TAs.
  • Improve our software to boost storage reliability, data transfer speed, customer usability.
  • Work on general data storage infrastructure problems.
  • Provide technical guidance for more junior team members.
