The Role:

The Sustaining Operations Program Manager (OPM) manages the program after the transition from the NPI Product Operations team. The sustaining team typically begins to engage around the DVT phase and provide onsite support at PVT builds. OPMs manage the programs after they transition to sustaining ensuring that there are no blockers to impede production while meeting our quality, delivery, and cost objectives. When an issue arises that impacts our ability in meeting our objectives, OPMs are at the center of the issue working with the cross functional team to resolve the problems. OPMs ensure successful fulfillment for product launches and ongoing support, grow the capabilities of our current systems to meet our needs, and drive continuous improvement for the company.


Key job responsibilities
As an Operations Program Manager you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive, design and develop innovative complex RF products. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment. Your expertise in program management, technical leadership, and RF product development will be crucial in ensuring the successful delivery of these products, meeting customer requirements, and driving continuous improvement. In this role, you will:

• Demonstrate ability to manage multiple complex projects - work prioritization, planning and task delegation

• Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and expertise throughout the product lifecycle, collaborating with cross functional teams including engineering, NPI, manufacturing and Quality

• Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing and NPI to develop a production scale up plan early

• Collaborate with multiple technical teams to develop early understanding of test infrastructure. Participate in DFM, PFMEAs, data analysis and provide Sustaining perspective

• Develop clear understanding of sourcing strategies, risks and constraints. Prepare for expansion of product into different geographies.

• Identify opportunities for optimization, cost reduction, and performance improvements and feedback to Engineering and NPI teams for future enhancements for next generation products

• Manage inventory health by ensuring efficient inventory flow globally. Involves determining and executing exit strategies for unproductive inventory, and analyzing inventory position

• Integrate strong and clear analysis and business rationale into sound decision making

• Travel as required

A day in the life:
The Sustaining OPM manages the program after the transition from the NPI Product Operations team. The OPM will host and manage weekly core team meetings with cross functional teams including internal Operations, Engineering, DGL, Quality, RL and Product Management. He/She drives the core team to ensure there are no blockers to impede production while meeting our quality, delivery and cost objectives.

About the team
The team manages sustaining products for Tablets, E-readers and Kuiper customer terminals. We are a high performance team always looking for new initiatives to raise the bar. We also work extremely well together and support each other as needed.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent
- 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Excellent data extraction, analytical and problem solving skills; ability to work with large, complex data sets and familiarity with statistics or other analytical techniques; excel skills are required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
- Advanced degrees in Operations Management, Mathematics/Engineering, or a EE with a quantitative focus
- Proven track record of complex and creative problem solving and the desire to create and build new processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, building relationships

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
