Job Summary
We are seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) to join the Alexa Daily Essentials (ADE) Analytics and Data Science team to work on Alexa+, our next-generation AI-powered assistant. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on customer experience and product development through data-driven insights and analytics.
As a BIE, you will transform terabytes of data into actionable business insights, serving as a key technical advisor to stakeholders across the organization. You will drive strategic decision-making through deep data analysis, lead growth experiments through A/B testing, and maintain high standards for BI engineering practices, including operational excellence and data privacy protection.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical leadership skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners, including Product Owners, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and SDEs. You will independently lead analytical initiatives, conduct deep dives, and translate complex business problems into practical solutions. This role requires excellent problem-solving abilities, proactive stakeholder management, and the capacity to communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Key job responsibilities
Specific Responsibilities Include:
• Design, develop, and maintain robust metrics, reports, and dashboards using tools like QuickSight to drive key business decisions for Alexa+
• Lead complex quantitative analyses across multiple features and teams, uncovering strategic opportunities and presenting executive-level business recommendations
• Spearhead A/B testing strategies, ensuring statistical significance and educating stakeholders on proper interpretation of results
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, including Data Engineers, Product Managers, and leadership, to translate complex business problems into effective analytical solutions
• Derive actionable insights from customer behavior data, contributing to the experimentation roadmap and new product development for Alexa+
• Establish and maintain BI engineering best practices, including operational excellence, code standards, and data privacy protection
• Serve as a technical leader and mentor for junior Business Intelligence Engineers, providing guidance and fostering their professional development
• Build scalable analytics solutions using SQL, Python, and other relevant languages or tools to provide granular analysis and KPIs at scale for Alexa Shopping features
- Bachelor's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field
- 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
- Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Master's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field
- Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift
- Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
- Experience developing and presenting recommendations of new metrics allowing better understanding of the performance of the business

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
