You'll be at the forefront of solving security challenges that didn't exist two years ago - protecting AI workloads, defending against AI-generated attacks, and creating security systems that think like security experts. Our team combines world-class researchers, seasoned security professionals, and engineers who've built some of AWS's most critical services.

Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will be involved in building robust, well-architected AI-powered security systems that protect AWS customers from sophisticated cyber threats that traditional security tools cannot detect. You will be developing high-performance and highly scalable security services that leverage Generative AI and machine learning to comprehensively defend applications and AI workloads against advanced persistent threats, AI-generated attacks, and zero-day exploits.
You will design and implement real-time threat detection systems that process millions of security events per second, using advanced AI models to identify attack patterns and make intelligent mitigation decisions. This includes building new AI-powered services that improve our intelligent threat analysis and automated response capabilities.
You will architect integrations with core AWS security services including Network Firewall, Web Application Firewall, and Shield. Your work will focus on solving novel security challenges specific to AI and machine learning workloads, and defending against adversarial AI techniques.
You will collaborate closely with Applied Scientists and ML Engineers to translate security research into production systems, ensuring our AI-driven security capabilities evolve as quickly as the threat landscape.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with Generative AI security, including LLM safety, prompt injection prevention, and AI model protection
- Knowledge of advanced threat detection techniques including behavioral analysis and anomaly detection
- Previous work on real-time security systems processing high volumes of data
- Experience with AWS infrastructure services and deep understanding of cloud security architecture
- Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements (SOC 2, FedRAMP, GDPR, etc.)
- Background in security research or participation in security communities
- Experience with container security and Kubernetes security frameworks
- Knowledge of network security protocols, deep packet inspection, and traffic analysis

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
