About the Role:
As a Senior Global Commodity Manager specializing in Semiconductor Components, you will lead the technical and commercial sourcing strategies for custom ASIC solutions. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams from the earliest product development stages through engineering validation and beyond. You will have the opportunity to directly influence the technology and supply chain decisions behind our devices, ensuring the seamless delivery of innovative products to millions of customers worldwide.

Key job responsibilities
As a Sr. Global Commodity Manager, you will:
- Develop and execute comprehensive foundry, IP, and OSAT technology roadmaps that align Amazon's silicon development strategy with manufacturing partners' process nodes and capabilities
- Own strategic partnerships with key foundries, IP vendors, and OSAT suppliers; lead contract negotiations for manufacturing capacity commitments, IP licensing agreements, and assembly/test services
- Drive early engagement with foundry partners on advanced process nodes, ensuring Amazon's access to leading-edge manufacturing capabilities
- Collaborate with silicon design teams to optimize die size, IP selection, and package design choices that balance performance, cost, and manufacturability
- Develop and execute multi-source strategies for critical IP blocks and OSAT services to ensure supply chain resilience and competitive cost structure
- Lead technical and commercial assessment of emerging foundry technologies, IP portfolios, and advanced packaging solutions to support Amazon's silicon innovation roadmap
- Manage complex cost models incorporating wafer pricing, IP licensing fees, and OSAT services; drive cost reduction through die size optimization, multi-project wafer runs, and strategic volume commitments
- Partner with silicon design, verification, and physical design teams to influence technology selection and ensure manufacturability of custom silicon designs
- Lead quarterly business reviews with supply chain partners, focusing on capacity planning, yield improvement, quality metrics, and strategic alignment
- Develop risk mitigation strategies addressing geopolitical risks, capacity constraints, and supply chain disruptions in the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem
- Periodically travel to supplier sites to drive initiatives such as cost reductions, relationship building and supplier development.

A day in the life
As a Senior Global Commodity Manager and subject-matter expert for semiconductor components, your day is a dynamic mix of strategic planning, technical problem-solving, and supplier engagement. You manage technical and commercial sourcing strategy of Semiconductor components for multiple programs from pre-concept stages to EVT/DVT in collaboration with architecture, engineering, NPI operations, legal and suppliers and handoff to sustaining Global Supply Managers. You’ll collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to influence design decisions while aligning with technical and business goals. Your role involves negotiating with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms, optimizing supply chain processes to reduce lead times and costs, and resolving complex engineering or supply chain challenges. You’ll stay ahead of market trends, pricing dynamics, and technological advancements to refine sourcing strategies, ensuring Amazon remains competitive. Cross-functional leadership is key, as you partner with legal, NPI operations, and planning teams to assess future sourcing needs and develop risk mitigation plans. You’ll also lead supplier evaluations, conduct business reviews to ensure performance meets expectations, and report progress to senior leadership, demonstrating how your strategies drive the success of Amazon Devices. About the team

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science
- 8+ years of experience in technical and commercial sourcing within high-volume manufacturing operations
- 8+ years direct experience in supplier/supply chain management, with strong knowledge of the semiconductor industry, IC manufacturing and packaging processes and key suppliers.
- Demonstrated expertise in contract negotiations, cost analysis, and supplier performance management.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office tools.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field
- 10+ years of semiconductor industry experience with demonstrated expertise in foundry operations, IP licensing, and OSAT services; including experience with leading foundries (TSMC, Samsung, Intel)
- Proven track record in managing high-value ($100M+) manufacturing agreements, complex IP licensing negotiations, and strategic capacity commitments with foundry partners
- Deep technical background in silicon development, including understanding of advanced process nodes, physical design, DFM, and advanced packaging technologies
- Demonstrated experience in semiconductor cost modeling, including wafer pricing, IP licensing structures, and OSAT services, with strong analytical and negotiation skills
- Strong project management and communication skills, with ability to influence senior technical and business stakeholders across global organizations

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $220,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
