Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration and working across boundaries.
  • Experience working with Python, C++, or Go.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in designing large-scale, distributed systems.
  • Experience in software engineering and familiarity with C++.
  • Experience with agile project management.
  • Experience building infrastructure, simulation, emulation, and developer tools to increase developer productivity.

Our team is responsible for the core Borg components such as Scheduler, Rescheduler, and Lumos (Simulation Infra). We are organized into two tracks: Infrastructure and Products.

The Infrastructure track is responsible for improving the platform's scalability and performance to ensure the functioning of our feature development and operations.

The Products track is responsible for all Borg Product-related needs, including a consistent and delightful end-to-end user experience, efficiency, and reliability.

The ML, Systems, & Cloud AI (MSCA) organization at Google designs, implements, and manages the hardware, software, machine learning, and systems infrastructure for all Google services (Search, YouTube, etc.) and Google Cloud. Our end users are Googlers, Cloud customers and the billions of people who use Google services around the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of software engineers to deliver the whole life-cycle of services to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software.
  • Own strategic outcomes for projects/programs by planning, communicating, designing, and directly contributing to them.
  • Partner with cross-functional peers to influence systems, processes and programs.
  • Provide technical and execution guidance to other engineers on the team.
  • Work with Product Areas to understand requirements, oversee mapping of requirements into engineering deliverables.
