Amazon Studios Technology is revolutionizing how entertainment decisions are made by building innovative data solutions that unlock insights across the content lifecycle. We're seeking skilled data engineers to join our Data & Insights team and help transform raw data into actionable intelligence that shapes the future of Amazon MGM Studios.

Our mission is to empower 2,400+ customers across Studios and Prime Video organizations with reliable, timely data to drive business decisions. As a data engineer, you'll design and implement data pipelines that integrate diverse sources, ensure data quality, and enable self-service analytics capabilities.

Key job responsibilities
- Design and implement robust, scalable ETL/ELT pipelines across multiple complex data sources
- Create coherent Logical Data Models that drive physical design decisions for significant datasets
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability across the entire analytics ecosystem
- Build and maintain sophisticated automated data validation and monitoring solutions
- Develop and optimize data models that serve diverse business intelligence needs
- Lead performance optimization for data warehouse systems and pipelines
- Implement data structures using advanced best practices in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, SQL, Oracle, and OLAP technologies
- Make appropriate architectural trade-offs between flexibility, performance, and complexity
- Balance resource usage efficiency with system requirements and business needs

A day in the life
- Develop and optimize mission-critical data pipelines with significant business impact
- Troubleshoot complex data quality issues and implement systematic, scalable fixes
- Partner with senior product and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
- Lead optimization efforts for existing ETL/ELT processes to improve performance and reliability
- Support and mentor BI engineers in accessing and utilizing complex data models
- Establish and promote best practices in data system creation, data integrity, testing, and documentation
- Investigate and resolve root causes of complex issues in data integrity and process failures
- Actively participate in code reviews, design discussions, and team planning sessions
- Train peers on how team data solutions are constructed, operated, secured, and integrated
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in team processes and data architecture
- Help recruit and interview for the team while mentoring junior engineers

About the team
We transform complex data from 20+ source systems into actionable insights that drive Studios' success. Our work enables teams to make data-driven decisions about content investment, production operations, and business strategy. We maintain high standards for data quality while delivering analytics capabilities that scale with Studios' growing needs.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
- Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
