Principal Engineer, Databases AI

Minimum qualifications:

• 15 years of AI/ML experience building models and delivering AI in production
• Experience developing AI models including training and evaluations
• Experience with Applied AI on Data or applied to Apps

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD
• Research experience in building state-of-the-art AI models, training, post-training for custom models or foundation models
• Experience collaborating within a cross-organization and with cross-functional teams
• Strong product sensibility, with the capability to convert and drive key product innovations and opportunities

As the Principal Engineer, you will drive innovation to build industry leading data capabilities across our database products including areas such as custom, task-specific models, and Applied AI across vector search, natural language interfaces to SQL, AI Agents, AI Query Engine.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $294,000-$414,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

• Lead AI for Google Cloud’s offering hosting customer critical database workloads and migrations to Cloud.
• Be part of an innovative team with the mission to develop and deliver AI and data capabilities to customers at scale.
• Inspire and collaborate with a highly technical team of industry influencers with a deep subject matter expertise.
• Drive AI model development for databases, collaborating closely with Google DeepMind and Cloud AI teams.
• Work effectively with external customers while leading deep technical initiatives.
