Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low latency, high-speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. The Kuiper Security team partners with builder teams to ensure our systems are secure by default and delightful for customers.
As the Director of Kuiper Security Assurance, you will manage a team of compliance subject matter experts dedicated to building first-in-class certification, accreditation, and assurance programs for Project Kuiper. You will be accountable for building customer trust and ensuring that we maintain a high security bar for Project Kuiper. You will maintain customer and regulatory relationships, identify applicable industry requirements, and establish long-term strategies to meet customer and regulatory security assurance needs. You will also work closely with various industry groups and regulators to establish risk requirements and policies for Project Kuiper. The successful candidate is a strategic thinker, with deep experience in heavily regulated landscapes, solid understanding of telecommunications or cloud-based technologies, and experience in security and compliance.

Key job responsibilities
* Provide technical and strategic leadership to the Kuiper Security Assurance team by overseeing all assurance activities for Project Kuiper’s products and services
* Work closely with engineering and product teams, and define the strategy for Project Kuiper to meet and exceed compliance requirements and customer needs across an international footprint
* Drive innovative solutions to provide the highest level of assurance in the most scalable and cost-effective manner
* Engage and influence external parties, such as industry groups, customers and regulators, on global reporting and risk requirements, policies, and regulatory questions

* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems Management, related field or relevant work experience
* 7+ years experience working on governance, risk and compliance programs that involve direct engagement with regulators or public sector agencies involved in cybersecurity management and/or operations
* 7+ years experience in managing and building teams, including compliance experts
* Experience working on security risk assessment or cybersecurity consulting
* Proficiency with government security frameworks, policies and standards (e.g., ISO, NIST)
* Experience working with sensitive or classified systems of government
* Ability to work across internal and external stakeholders, including engineering and business development teams, customers and regulators, to proactively identify security assurance requirements
* Prior experience in effectively scaling complex and large compliance and assurance program

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $187,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $350,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
