As a Business Analyst, you will support the analytics strategy that powers our compensation programs. You’ll help ensure our compensation and benefits remain competitive and effective by delivering insights that guide decisions across the organization. This role is key in delivering on the program team’s charter to deliver high quality compensation with data driven decisions. This role consults with regional C&B (compensation & benefits) manager(s) and the broader compensation team to assess Microsoft’s cash and stock programs, recommend salary increase budgets and sales pay mix changes, delivers standardized and ad-hoc analysis and reporting to further evolve Microsoft’s compensation strategy and programs to meet the changing business demands for a leading technology firm.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field
    • OR equivalent experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 2+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
           OR Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field         OR Equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerBI, Power Query, and Power Apps.
  • Statistical analysis skills and knowledge of statistical software (for example, SPSS or R), including the application of multivariate models 
  • Ability to use low code (e.g. SQL) to process large data
  • Ability to translate sometimes ambiguous requests and questions into testable hypotheses, conduct relevant analyses, and generate actionable insights from findings.
  • Basic project management skills, including ability to align expectations on project deliverables, drive progress toward key milestones, and identify risks and dependencies.

 

Business Analytics IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $68,300 - $137,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $93,200 - $151,200 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Own the holistic and forward thinking data and analytics roadmap and strategy for the program team and ensure it aligns with the broader Microsoft HR data strategy, including assessing when to use PowerBI or other tools to most effectively deliver for the program teams
  • Implement the data strategy and own the accompanying internal analyses and tools; identify opportunities to improve outside of our current line of sight
  • Innovate and create next-generation tools, dashboards, and insights to enhance business efficiency and inform strategic decisions
  • Translate findings into succinct, actionable business insights, often in coordination with compensation program managers who help you tell a holistic story
  • Communicate results effectively for impact and provide follow-up insights in a timely manner
  • Participate in global and/or regional compensation survey with leading compensation and benefit consulting firms; procure survey data and prepare for upload into Microsoft’s central market analysis tool
  • Support global compensation consultant and regional C&B managers to complete role or segment market competitive analysis throughout the year to inform critical decisions on talent attraction, retention, and pay mix changes
  • Might be required to monitor, track, triage and assign cases to other compensation consultants
