Amazon Studios Technology is transforming how television and movie production decisions are made through data. We're seeking experienced software engineers to join our Data & Insights team as we evolve our architecture to better serve Studios' growing data needs. Our systems help teams across Studios and Prime Video make informed decisions about content investment, production operations, and business strategy.
Our mission is to make Amazon MGM Studios data readily available to 2,400+ customers by building reliable, scalable data systems. We do this today through data pipelines and analytics platforms while laying the foundation for our future distributed data mesh architecture.
As an SDEII, you'll own significant portions of our platform, building new features while ensuring existing systems remain performant and reliable. As part of our team, you'll design and implement distributed analytics systems using AWS technologies, working closely with business stakeholders to deliver insights that impact billion-dollar decisions.

Key job responsibilities
- Design and implement new platform capabilities that help customers discover and use Studios data
- Build and maintain microservices that process and serve data at scale
- Develop and maintain APIs and services that power business intelligence dashboards
- Create robust data access patterns that serve multiple business units
- Write clear technical documentation to support system operation and evolution
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to architectural discussions
- Build integration points with various Amazon MGM Studios data sources
- Organize data into a semantic knowledge graph
A day in the life
- Collaborate with product managers to define requirements for new analytics platform features
- Review code and provide constructive feedback to teammates
- Troubleshoot and optimize slow-running data pipelines
- Design new APIs that make data access more intuitive
- Support business intelligence engineers using our platform
- Write design documents for upcoming projects
- Participate in team planning and architecture discussions
About the team
We're a newly combined group bringing together platform infrastructure and analytics expertise. Our team maintains critical data systems that support Studios' daily operations while building toward a more flexible and scalable future architecture. We process data from 20+ source systems, maintain 250+ datasets, and support 1000+ dashboards that drive business decisions.
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
