Amazon is looking for a Principal Product Manager (Technical) to join an exciting new project team working to build a completely new best in class consumer product. In the role, you will define, execute, and deliver our product roadmap in collaboration with our software, firmware, and/or hardware organizations. You will drive product strategy and features and you will develop and look after product roadmaps based on team strategy and vision. This role is inherently cross-functional -- you will work closely with our team’s, engineering, design, and executive teams to bring a consumer product to market and ensure its success.

A successful candidate will be a “Product Ninja” - numbers driven, highly analytical, knowledgeable about technology product features, collaborative, embodies a sense of urgency, able to work extremely effectively in a start-up like environment, and adept at synthesizing a variety of technologies and capabilities into high quality, simple features and applications that customers love. They are also open to learning and working on various aspects of the product, from software to hardware, as the need arises.


Key job responsibilities
- Assessing User Needs: Work UX team to understand the customer’s needs/concerns, and identify opportunities to create or improve features.
- Feature Development/Ownership: Produce crisp working backwards documents (PR-FAQs) and detailed software/firmware/hardware feature requirements that can be used to create product specifications and architecture. Work closely with engineering teams and program management to deliver product to market.
- Design Collaboration: Establish user experience goals, stories, tenets, and requirements that will be used to drive product specifications.
- Feature Prioritization: Drive software feature prioritization alongside Program Management.
- Influence/Cross-Functional Alignment: Coordinate our product roadmap alongside our engineering organizations. Champion and gain buy-in for our strategy and roadmap through influencing peers and senior management.
- Product Roadmap: Drive roadmaps and identify short, medium and long-term features to achieve our vision.
- Metrics/Analytics: Coordinate analytics, alongside marketing/business intelligence, to establish metrics, set targets, and drive product improvements to achieve targets.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
- Experience technical product management

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements
- Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
