What We’re Looking For:

- A proven track record as a Software Development Manager or engineering leader, with experience scaling products from concept to large-scale deployment.
- Deep expertise in SDLC management, software architecture, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Strong background in AI-powered systems, e-commerce, online advertising, search technologies, or related domains.
- A self-starter with a passion for innovation, data-driven decision-making, and a customer-first mindset.
- Excellent communication skills to align teams, articulate technical vision, and influence stakeholders across Amazon.

Key job responsibilities
- Shape the Technical Vision: Steer the design and architecture of large-scale, innovative software systems for Alexa+, driving GenAI-powered features, and supporting the rapid growth of Alexa Ads revenue streams.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with product managers, UX designers, technical leads, and leadership to identify high-impact opportunities, align on roadmaps, and execute end-to-end solutions that fuel Alexa+’s evolution and Alexa Ads’ global expansion.
- Cultivate High-Performing Team: Hire, mentor, and develop top engineering talent, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation within cross-functional teams focused on scaling Alexa+ and advancing Alexa’s advertising capabilities.
- Champion Engineering Excellence: Provide technical leadership throughout the SDLC, ensuring best practices in code quality, scalability, and reliability for mission-critical systems powering Alexa+ and Amazon Ads, while driving operational excellence at scale.
- Deliver Strategic Insights: Communicate transparently with stakeholders on project status, system performance, and business impact, ensuring alignment with Amazon’s vision to redefine customer experiences through Alexa+ and lead the digital ad market as a top-tier player.

About the team
Alexa Ads org leads all ads driven monetization initiatives for Alexa/Alexa+ digital personal assistant covering all Amazon Devices including Echo and Fire TV, and enables highly relevant experiences for 100s of millions of customers while providing a scaled economic model for Alexa.

We are located at the heart of sunny SoCal, and in the greenfield adventures of monetizing Alexa+ with her new remarkable GenAI-powered capabilities. Our owned tech stacks run the gamut from lightning-fast compute infrastructure to sleek customer-facing content rendering.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
